Bill C-24: are you a second class citizen?

Canada Bill C-24 animation - are you a second class citizen?

by BCCLA

Bill C-24 gives the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration the authority to strip Canadians of their citizenship, not by a court and not appealable.

Bill C-51 expands the definition of "terrorism" to include any action that interferes with "the economic or financial stability of Canada". Its unlikely that the courts would tolerate "terrorism" charges for protests, occupations, and blockades, and even less likely to convict, but its a very slippery slope.

Moreover, the effect of such legislation, especially for new Canadians, is to chill dissent.
