Children as Cause for Ethnic Cleansing Campaign: An Appeal to International Journalists in the Hares Boys Case

Appeal to International Journalists in Palestine

by ISM

As you may know, court proceedings are underway against the five Hares boys. The five children are accused of causing a car accident (of a settler) near Hares, by throwing stones. What at first seemed like a normal car accident has become another incident in Israel's ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

After repeated raids by the Israeli army on the village of Hares, taking the children, detaining and torturing them, and still not finding any new evidence, the Hares boys have been in prison for almost a year.

During the hearings, the Israeli Military Court's success in convicting these children is their main goal. Court hearings have been repeatedly postponed, translators have not been provided, and this was all started behind closed doors.

All this is of course illegal.

We therefore appeal to you and ask that you be present at Salem Military Court for the next hearing in order to witness what is happening. We ask that you disclose to the media the truth about this case. We believe that your support of these five children at this time is very important and we remind you that they face a life sentence in Israel if convicted.

The next hearing is on Monday, February 17th for Ammar Souf. The following hearing, for Mohammad Suleiman one has been postponed until the 9th of March.
