Passing: Broadcaster and Communitarian, Teddy Aberg

Passing: Teddy Aberg

August 17, 2018

Long-time CFUV Radio broadcaster, Teddy Aberg passed away August 16, 2018. Teddy was a perennial favourite around the station and absolute FunDrive monster!

His Scandinavian Hour program drew even larger audiences from his Swedish home than here in Victoria, and was even honoured with a broadcasting award (pictured) from the Consulate of Sweden in Canada.

Teddy was also very committed to good works in the community, and devoted husband to Barbara and stepdad to Eric and Kathy.

Below is the poster text for an audio history of the station Teddy took part in in 2009.

Happy trails, Teddy

To mark CFUV’s 25th anniversary, Georgie Wilson, one of the station’s hardest-working volunteers, worked tirelessly to collect voices and memories from our cumulative past.  After contacting former staff, long-time programmers, and current contributors, the many interviews were compiled into this four part series.  Thanks to everyone who helped with the project.

CFUV’s own Teddy Aberg has received an award from the Consulate of the Sweden for his program, 'Scandinavian Hour' which runs weekly on Sundays from 9-10am on CFUV.

Part 2:  Giovanna Greco, Aldo Nazarko, Brian Webster, Jack Showers & Sondra Barrand, Demetrios Tsimon, Kate Pasieka, Teddy Aberg, Greg Pratt, Jo Vipond, Matt Wright

Description: Scandianavian hour is a program for Scandinavians living in Canada and in Nordic countries. Conducted in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, English and German languages, it can be heard on radio and internet in Victoria and Sweden. The show is a mixture of spoken word and (mostly) Scandinavian music, interviews, phone in calls from listeners and information regarding the local community. The program has been running for over 13 years now and has many listeners locally and in Scandinavia.
