Time Yet to Save the Ancient Forest

Support the Ancient Forest Alliance’s 2013 'Pre-Election Campaign for Ancient Forests and BC Forestry Jobs'

by AFA

As 2012 comes to a close, we at the Ancient Forest Alliance (AFA) are asking that you support our momentous and ground-breaking “Pre-Election Campaign for Ancient Forests and BC Forestry Jobs”.

Over the next 5 months leading up to the May, 2013 British Columbia election, politicians of all stripes are vulnerable to major public pressure to commit to new policies, including a new plan to protect our endangered old-growth forests and to overhaul BC’s backwards system of forestry.

We won’t let this opportunity slip by without building the massive surge in public mobilization needed to change the outcome for millions of hectares of endangered ancient forests across BC and to end raw log exports. The Ancient Forest Alliance is THE main conservation organization working towards these goals.

If you care about the fate of BC’s endangered old-growth forests, NOW is the time to donate to the Ancient Forest Alliance.

In 2012 your support helped us to protect the spectacular Avatar Grove, to stop destructive logging plans for the Walbran Valley’s Castle Grove, to secure a BC government commitment to devise a new legal tool to protect BC’s biggest trees, and to build and support campaigns to protect Echo Lake, Cortes Island, McLaughlin Ridge, Mossy Maple Grove, and areas on the Sunshine Coast including Stillwater Bluffs and the Day Road Forest.

Some things we have in store for 2013 include:

- Organizing the largest ancient forest rally in BC’s history this spring.
- A major, volunteer-driven campaign in key BC “swing ridings” where politicians are particularly sensitive to public opinion.
- The release of several new, vitally important reports on the status of BC’s old-growth forests and the viability of a sustainable, value-added second-growth forest industry.
- Working with key allies including First Nations, forestry workers, businesses, Chambers of Commerce, faith leaders, and scientists to speak up.
- Organizing a massive media campaign to garner provincial, national, and international news coverage.
…and a lot more.

Your support will enable all of this to happen!

THANK YOU greatly for your continued support as a Defender of Beautiful British Columbia!
