Gorilla Radio for Monday,
April 3rd, 2006

Here we Canadians are in 2006, fighting a war paragons like the C.B.C.’s Peter Mansbridge informs is all due to the machinations of one man. No, it’s not, according to Pete, George W. Bush, but Osama bin Laden, the elusive Pimpernel of our times.

So, who is this evil genius, and what makes him tick.

It’s almost impossible to get an interview with Monsieur bin Laden, but today Gorilla Radio has the next best thing, an interview with his favourite author, American William Blum. William Blum is an American journalist and author, whose titles include: ‘Rogue State: A Guide to the World’s Only Superpower,’ ‘Killing Hope: CIA Military Interventions Since World War II,’ and the newly released, ‘Freeing the World to Death: Essays on the American Empire,’ taken primarily from his on-line newsletter, ‘The Anti-Empire Report.’

William Blum in the first half.

And; daily reports of gruesome murders in Iraq bring back haunting memories of that “other” American project: The subjugation of South and Central America.

No less a figure than Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld recently reminisced about the possibility that the so-called, ‘Salvador Option’ could well be employed to deal with the recalcitrant Iraqi resistance. That option entails just the kind of activities witnessed today in that benighted nation.

Robert Parry is an American journalist and publisher of the web news site, Consortium News. Robert Parry and revisiting Latin America in the second half.

And; Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with all that’s good to do in and around Victoria this week.

But first, William Blum and a little light reading with Osama bin Laden.
