!!! SEND THE ARMY HOME!!!

PROTEST THE ARMED FORCES RECRUITMENT KIOSQUE
AT UVIC CAREER FAIR!

On February 7 and 8, the Canadian Armed Forces will hold a recruitment kiosque at UVIC career day. Students against War UVIC will be there to protest!

WHEN: February 8, 11:30 am ? 12:30 pm
WHERE: UVIC Sub Building (meet outside front doors before moving to Armed Forces kiosque)

The Conservative Government is currently pursuing an aggressive military operation in Afghanistan and supporting a host of other military occupations across the globe. Likewise, Harper is pursuing an aggressive military recruitment campaign across Canada. Equipped with a $15.5-million promotional budget, a new advertising series and a recruitment target of 5,800 new regular forces members each year, the Conservatives' recruitment campaign is in motion. And who are among the campaign 'targets'? Not surprisingly, students.

STUDENTS: THE RECRUITMENT OFFICERS' 'TARGETS OF OPPORTUNITIES'
National Defence targets Canadians aged 16 to 34 for military recruitment and has recognized that a paid education as an entry bonus is a prime incentive for joining the armed forces. The government knows that students face escalating tuition fees and immense debts. It knows that joining the armed forces may be seen as one way to ease the financial burden for students. While the Conservatives continue to make post-secondary education inaccessible, billions are invested into military ventures which cause misery and devastation in countries like Afghanistan and Haiti.

SEND THE ARMED FORCES HOME!!! COME PROTEST RECRUITERS ON CAREER DAY!
