Approaching the first anniversary of Russia’s “Special Operations” in the Donbass region of Ukraine prospects for Russia’s proposed ceasefire are tremulous, and the chance of peace breaking out soon remote. The problem for those seeking an end to the killing is, as ever, finding willing partners on both sides of the conflict. For now, Ukraine’s backers in the United States and the NATO countries seem content to allow the war continue, sapping Russia’s political and economic resources while providing a lucrative market for their weapons-making industries.
But, and it is an enormous one, elements within Germany’s uber military echelons are pushing America to put an end to its project in Ukraine – before it’s too late!
