Hirsohima, 78 Years Ago Today

 父は岩国工業高                   

校の建物内にいた

が、閃光と爆風に

驚き外に出たとい

う。てっきり近場

の工場で爆発があ

ったと思ったが、

見る限りでは何も

起こっていない。

しばらくして、

遠くに「きのこ雲」

が立ち昇っているの

に気づいたが、

何が起こったのかよ

く分からなかったそうだ。

 

My father was inside the building of Iwakuni Technical High School, 

but was surprised by the flash and the blast and went outside. 

I thought there had been an explosion at a nearby factory, but as 

far as I could see, nothing had happened. After a while, he noticed

a "mushroom cloud" rising in the distance, but he didn't quite 

understand what had happened.
