Welcome to Gorilla Radio, recorded November 4th, 2026

Yesterday Americans celebrated democracy, going to the polls to vote in midterms. The election coincided with the 10 month anniversary of the US invasion of Venezuela - an illegal action that killed more than a hundred and ten people - and included the kidnapping of duly-elected president Nicholas Maduro and his wife, National Assembly representative Cilia Flores. The Maduro’s are currently awaiting trial and enduring difficult conditions in America’s infamous prison system, while Acting President Delcy Rodriguez is overseeing the undermining of Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution from the collar end of a short U.S.-held leash.

Ricardo Vaz is a journalist, political analyst and contributor with the communication collectives Tatuy Tv and Utopix. His articles appear regularly at Venezuelanalysis.com, and his latest piece there, ‘Venezuelan Armed Forces Bomb ELN Guerrilla Camp: Report’ reveals another troubling sign of political regression and erosion of Venezuelan sovereignty.

And; the US is not the only jurisdiction undergoing electoral turmoil. Brazil too just reelected its presidential incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and fittingly, his contender Flávio Bolsonaro fled the country once his agents’ effort to fix the election were discovered. In this case, the sins of the father are exactly those of the son; though Flávio proved fleeter of foot than his father Jair, who’s currently serving out a 27 year prison sentence for trying to fix his reelection.

Dan Kovalik’s a lawyer, educator, labour, peace, and justice activist, democracy defender, journalist, author, and filmmaker. Dan represented unions whose membership were targeted by Colombia’s death squads during the generational conflict there, and currently acts as former Colombian president Gustavo Petro’s legal representative in the United States.

Some of Dan’s many book titles include: ‘No More War: How the West Violates International Law by Using ‘Humanitarian’ Intervention to Advance Economic and Strategic Interest’, ‘The Case for Palestine: Why It Matters and Why You Should Care’, ‘The Plot to Overthrow Venezuela’, and his latest, co-authored with Jeremy Kuzmarov, ‘Syria: Anatomy of Regime Change’.

But first, Ricardo Vaz and Venezuela’s co-opted military’s role in the recolonization of the nation.
